I guess Christian music can be cool.

The Welcome Wagon is my new favorite band, which is interesting cause i absolutely hate "christian rock". Well i guess The Welcome Wagon isn't really considered christian rock, more like christian indie pop which is a new thing i've been discovering.  You see i really like religious uplifting music, like old blue grass and folk hymns and sometimes even cheesy 80's christian pop like Michael McLean, and some Michael W Smith or even i'll dabble a tiny bit in some Jars Of Clay... maybe, that's a bit pushing it.
Anyhow back to this cool christian indie pop stuff. i believe i discovered it a few years ago when i started listing to Pedro the Lion and Sufjan Stevens, of either not really realizing to be considered "christian" music. but either way it was really great music. Then from studying more about Sufjan i discovered Danielson or The Danielson Famile and Half-Handed Cloud, all of which are also really pleasant bands. But it wasn't until i listened to this husband and wife band called The Welcome Wagon (i'm always a fan of husband and wife bands and hope to have one of my own someday) that i decided that christian music can really be cool and pleasing to listen to.

Up On A Mountain happens to be my favorite song for the time being. You can find it on the album "Welcome To The Welcome Wagon" produced by Sufjan Stevens himself. but my favorite version of the song would be the stripped down demo, it is really a beautiful song.
