Best Songs Of 2010

this year i decided to do my favorite songs rather then albums, thought most of these songs would also be included on some of my favorite albums. but some of these songs are on EPs and compilations that don't really count as "albums" i guess... anyhow the majority of the year i was listening to music put out in years past, however i recently have become very interested in a particular kind of music that ends up filling almost half this list. at the bottom of the list you will find a link to download the mix. i'll also try to add the video if available. without further adieu here is my list in no particular order. enjoy.

Dreaming by Allo Darlin'
this is off of Allo Darlin's self titled album, all of which is really fantastic. filled with sugary up beat indie pop more recognizably from the 90's.

Say No To Love by The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart
i discovered The pains of Being Pure at Heart last year with their self titled album. yet didn't spend the time to really listen to them until this year, and so far they have quickly become one of my favorite bands. this song is off of a 2 song EP put out this year.

Oh, La La! by Agent Ribbons
Agent Ribbons is a band i discovered this year when my band was scheduled to perform with them... unfortunately they had to cancel their previously scheduled tour cause they were asked to go on tour with a more popular band... so i guess it was really only unfortunate for us. ether way it gave me the opportunity to discover their music, and oh what fantastic music it is. here's hoping for next year being able to perform with them.

It'll Come Around by All Saints Day
this is completely shoegaze music. a side project from Katy Goodman of the Vivian Girls of whom i've become quite fond of. 'nuff said.

Cherry Outline by Pet Milk
another great band i found only recently. you can download their whole "demo" album for free at their bandcamp page. it's very very nice.

Pet Milk - Cherry Outline from Melissa Farley on Vimeo.

Never Come Around by La Sera
this song is how i discovered Katy Goodman and the Vivian Girls. another of Katy's side projects, it's more sugary pop goodness, with a great video to boot.

I Want The World To Stop by Belle & Sebastian
one of my favorite bands of all time, in a strange way belle and sebastian helped me find the beautiful girl i married. thanks guys :). anyhow here is a great song off their latest album.

Don't Turn The Lights On by Chromeo
Chromeo has become my daughters favorite band which is really rad, cause chromeo is one of the best bands EVER!! my wife, daughter, and i went to see them perform this past summer and it was a lovely time had. their new album could possibly be my most favorite album to come out this year. give a listen  if you haven't already and be prepared to fall in love, really how can you not love these guys.

Kiss Off by Say Hi
a favorite song from my past done by one of my favorite bands of the present found on a lullaby compilation for children. crazy!

July Flame by Laura Veirs
i haven't heard any other songs off this album, in a weird way i don't want it to ruin the magic of this song, i just don't feel any other song on this album can match the pure awesomeness of this one. this is an absolute perfect song for a long night drive.

Sun Devil by Rocky Votolato
another on of my all time favorite musicians. all of his albums are great. of course including this one. and oh boy this song is wonderful.

Bloodbuzz Ohio by The National
The National make my bones shake.

Unbreak My Heart by Weezer
Weezer finally made the list after years and years with a cover song. really weezer, that's the best you can do??? anyhow great job on the cover song by the way.

thanks for reading.
